“It’s a great big world, life down here on Earth.”- Singer/songwriter Kevin Welch
I’ve been incredibly lucky: my work has literally taken me around the globe. When I was a location photographer I was granted access to places and experiences that mere mortals never get to encounter: the photographer’s pit at concerts, the interior of a nuclear power plant, shooting cars out of the back end of a station wagon while we raced around the track at Road Atlanta, the installation of a microwave network in the middle of the Saudi desert, hanging out of a helicopter with the door removed while hovering over downtown Chicago, the inside of a working (and moving!) strip-mining dragline at midnight in the middle of nowhere in Idaho and many, many more wonderful and challenging experiences. I’ve been to 23 countries outside of the USA and visited most of the major North American cities. Here are just a few recent highlights - Paul H Henning
Making the World a Better Place,
One Massage at a Time
October 27, 2016 New York NY – It’s not easy spending an entire day schmoozing with clients and prospects, but that’s what stock picture agencies from throughout North America as well as more than a handful from Europe did at the annual Visual Connections show in Manhattan on Oct. 27. It’s one of the very few events where folks from the now Internet-centric picture industry can meet real, live picture buyers in the flesh. A full day of gabbing with art buyers makes for some terrific new relationships as well as enhanced older ones, but how do you rid yourself of all that schmooze-induced stress? With a nice, relaxing massage, of course! Paul Henning attended VC-NY not only to fly the flag for cr8vstrategy client BikiniLists but also to see to it that all ran smoothly at their sponsored massage station. All of the participating picture agencies were eligible to receive a massage courtesy of the nice folks at BikiniLists, and judging by the smiles on the relaxed faces of the steady stream of patrons exiting the massage station it was a big success!
June 3 - 7, 2015 Warsaw, Poland – Poland is a fascinating country which, unfortunately, has a long history of being coveted by its neighbors. During WW II, of course, it was the Germans who paid an unwelcome visit, followed by decades of communism thanks to Soviet occupation and domination. But those were the bad old days and today’s West-leaning Poland is doing quite well, thank you! The 2015 edition of CEPIC picked a great meeting location within easy reach of the city’s deceptive old town. I say “deceptive” because, as I learned on a Sunday morning walking tour, what look like centuries-old buildings throughout much of that sector are actually rebuilds that took place right after the conclusion of WW II. The old city had been decimated during the war, but the Poles were determined to restore the architectural beauty the Nazis had destroyed so they dug out their blueprints and got to work duplicating the past with replicas set on the leveled landscape. Today, it’s a “happening” part of Warsaw with lots of history but also many pubs, restaurants and outdoor cafes. I experienced terrific meals during my stay, and prices are very reasonable, so you may want to add Warsaw to your next European foray.

Another Year, Another Great CEPIC
June 11 - 14, 2013 Barcelona, Spain – The tapas…the sea air…the bustling harbor…the palpable sense of history wherever you walk: there are oh so many reasons to come to Barcelona, but this year the annual CEPIC Congress provided one more great reason to visit! Over 450 picture professionals from around the world spent four days doing business, attending seminars and taking in all that this vibrant city had to offer. Paul H. Henning attended on behalf of cr8vstrategy client Tetra Images, logging three dozen meetings in conjunction with Tetra company president Valerie Saunders. This event was the swan song for outgoing CEPIC president Christina Vaughn, who is handing off the leadership baton into the very capable hands of Alfonso Gutiérrez from AGE Fotostock, and she certainly concluded her reign on a high note.

Tetra Hits Boston for HOW’s Annual Design Show
June 22, 2012 Boston MA – cr8vstrategy's Paul H. Henning attended the 2012 HOW Design Conference and was joined by Tetra Images president Valerie Saunders for the annual all-day Stock Expo. “I’ve done this show solo a couple of times,” said Henning, “but it was really nice to have some company on my side of the table, as well as another warm body to help deal with the large crowds.” As at the previous Stock Expos in Denver and Chicago, the 2012 event was well attended by graphic design and art professionals from throughout the USA & Canada, giving Henning and Saunders the chance to introduce them to Tetra Images. And, in keeping with the “All work and no play…etc.” theory, a Red Sox game at historic Fenway Park also made it on to Henning’s agenda!

Back Home…in London!
May 16 - 18, 2012 London UK – Every year CEPIC brings together the world’s top stock content creators and providers in one of Europe’s great cities. I was thrilled that the 2012 edition was held in London, my home-away-from home from 1997 – 2000! I truly loved my time living in London and always welcome return visits. As has now become tradition, I attended on behalf of cr8vstrategy℠ client Tetra Images, meeting with both current and prospective Tetra distributors from around the globe. I managed to work in some great personal time, too, including visits/dinners with both old friend/photographer David Redfernand his former business partner Dede Millar. The highlight, though, was my Saturday “Beatles Walk,” touring old haunts and famous scenes from the history of the Fab Four. Good show!
